A Late, Late, Blog Post: Gearing Up to Edit, Sitting Down to Read

“These last few days have been pretty hectic, as I gear up to do quite a few things all at the same time. The school year is coming to an end, and it’s going to feel a bit strange not going to town writing as I wait around for classes on campus. However, I’ve been taking the time to really give myself a break so that once I get back to my novel, once I can properly thumb through it, I will be able to appreciate it for what it is: a work in progress.”

“Am I ready to have all of this free time on my hands?” I ask myself, as I get ready for winter break and all that I want to get done. I know that that I can be notorious for sleeping in way too late, and pushing all of my important to-dos to the next day for weeks on end. I don’t want this break to be like that.

“I want to cozy up, read a lot, blog about the books I love. I want to go to town editing my novel, prepping it thoroughly before I even begin to think about potentially sharing it with the world. I want to reboot a few old projects, and turn them all into something I love. I have a list, I have the time, I might as well begin.”

Lately, I’ve been giving myself the time I need to really relax. I’ve taken the time to collect myself after a busy school year, after a tough but entirely rewarding NaNoWriMo. I can only hope that I will take to my next projects with the same determination I did this one. It’ll be a lot of work, but I’m excited. I’m excited to continue on learning about myself as a writer, staying inspired, giving myself something to be proud of when I sleep in way too late and when I find myself feeling stressed. Allowing yourself the time, is not a bad thing. I can say that I needed it, and now: I’m entirely prepared to get back into the swing of things.

As for blogging (and I’ve said this countless times, but I’ve never followed through), I do want to start doing more. I do want to open up my creative realm, and share all of my ideas, as well as to share what it is that inspires me. That is another thing I am going to make sure I add to the list. For, I love sitting here, writing this for every Monday. It makes me feel like I’ve got a handle on things, even when I’m not feeling the greatest. Well, I suppose it’s time to get down to business then.

Happy Writing Everyone!

Love, Anisa Nasir (3)
