“What can I say about you, 2016? You’ve taught me quite a lot about myself and what I’m truly capable of. For that, I am eternally grateful. However, you did bring with you a lot more struggles than I ever thought possible, ones I couldn’t be sure I’d be able to pull myself out of. Though, I did it. I’m here. I’m ready to take on this year, I’m ready to take on all that I wish to do. 2016 taught me a valuable lesson: In that, mum determination can get me through anything, that it can get me anywhere. I’m ready for you, 2017. Let’s do this.”
What a year. I guess I’ll begin by easing into the fact that I’ve done something this year that I haven’t done in such a long time. I actually completed NaNoWriMo this year. I have a finished first draft that has been sitting on my desk for the entirety of this winter vacation waiting to be edited. Did I want to wait until the new year to tackle it? Not exactly. Though, I’m here, and I’m ready to begin. I’ve always been the kind of person that dwelled in the anticipation of a goal, rather than giving it my all and working towards it. That is exactly why it’s been so long since I’ve actually finished anything. It isn’t too late to begin, and I’m prepared to get it done.
I have a wonderful little “To Accomplish” list that needs some tending to. My “vacation” has been extended for another week, and I’m most certainly determined to make the most of it. Let’s see what needs to be done, shall we?
- Edit That Novel
- Format That Novel and Begin Publishing Research (Agents, Actually).
- Blog Regularly (Change the Monday Minimum to a Sunday Minimum) “So that I cannot say I was too busy to get it done.”
- Daily Journal “Writing and reflection, they’ve got to begin somewhere.”
- Read Anything, and Everything “Because Book Reviews!”
- Begin a New Project
- Tackle NaNoWriMo 2017
- Celebrate Everything.
I can’t say that it’s going to be easy, but if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that if I can tackle NaNoWriMo I can definitely tackle that list. I hope all of you had a wonderful start to the New Year, and I can’t wait to hear about all the literary endeavours that have commenced. To writing just a bit more than last year!
