Poetry: “Melodrama” + “Raconteur”

M E L O D R A M A

It was an experience.

To write of raw adoration,

For the unerringly saccharine tongue

Of flitted whims

And a scene so carefully written

It could play with my heart.

It was an experience.

The aged fragments of an unfinished script

An act impulsive, that of untraveled perception

For the show was over now,

As I held my hand in his and whispered,

“Take me home.”

She thrived on imagined persistence

The fleeting, instrumental silence

Of a current that simply swept her away.

The pure ageless words

Of a mind that believed in honeyed narration,

For she wrote the world into her name.

Her prose read like a novella,

A carefully curated collection

Of chapters composed in just a few choice words

For every edition, a new perspective

Every phrase, a new adventure

As she wrote eloquently of all that intrigued her,

Of all that she had been too afraid to say.
